Title V, Part B, Subpart 2 – Rural and Low-Income School Program (RLIS)
Henry County School System receives funding under Title V, Part B, Subpart 2 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as reauthorized by the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). This program, formerly known as Title VI, provides formula grant funds to rural school districts to help meet local academic needs.
The Rural and Low-Income School Program (RLIS) allows districts to use federal funds flexibly to support programs and activities authorized under:
Title I, Part A – Improving Basic Programs
Title II, Part A – Supporting Effective Instruction
Title III – Language Instruction for English Learners
Parent and Family Engagement activities
Henry County Schools uses RLIS funds to support a variety of initiatives, including:
Teacher recruitment, retention, and professional development,
Educational technology to support teaching and learning,
Parent and family engagement opportunities,
Kindergarten readiness and early learning programs, and
Other activities that address the academic needs of our students.
