Buchanan, TN- The Lady Eagles are the Area 18 Champions and will play in the TMSAA Sectional at 7:20 p.m. on February 4, 2025, at Jackson Careers and Tech Middle School. “This is the second round of sectional games for us, we won on Saturday and if we win Tuesday, we will advance to the Sectional Semi-Final on Wednesday,” explains Lakewood Coach Elaina Wood. S also thanked the Lakewood administrative team, staff, and volunteers for helping host an outstanding area tournament.
Lakewood will play West Junior High and Coach Wood is prepared. “To prepare for West Jr. we are continuing to practice our skills of keeping our composure on the court. West Jr. High is a very quick and athletic team that likes to get up and guard very physically. We are going through high-intensity drills that require the girls to make quick decisions under high tensions and to make practice more tense than the game will be key. We will also go over small scouting details that will make or break the game. These girls are very smart inside and outside of the classroom. Their ability to recognize the scouting report and details of the game has been a key reason for our success this late in the season.”
“We are beyond grateful to be able to continue playing right now. Nearly every middle school team in our area has hung their jerseys for the season. We have not and do not plan on it anytime soon. The support of our family members has been amazing. We always have a great, loud crowd that helps get the girls rolling!”
