Paris, TN – Murray State University President, Dr. Bob Jackson, visited Henry County High School with his recruitment staff to talk to juniors and seniors about the college application and scholarship process.
In a standing room only assembly, Jackson encouraged students to complete their application early and to accept any scholarships they were eligible for Fall semester.
The recruitment staff gave students a code for a free application to MSU and invited them to attend an orientation on March 26, 2025, which falls during the high school’s Spring Break. Principal Michele Webb suggested students visit during Spring Break and reminded them they had two college days to use.
Orientation Day allows students to visit and learn about dorms, classrooms, meal plans, and scholarships. Jackson states that $136 million in need-based and other scholarships were awarded last year.
Freshman scholarships include academic scholarships that are automatically applied based on a student’s high school GPA or GPA and ACT. For example, a student with a 3.8- 4.0 GPA will automatically be given the Provost scholarship for $5,000. Other amounts are given for GPAs ranging from 2.75 to 4.00.
High GPA and ACT scores are also eligible for other guaranteed scholarships. Competitive scholarships are also available and students should look for deadlines to apply. More information can be found on the MSU website.
