Principal

Grove Parents & Stakeholders,

The first month of school has gone by very quickly!  We have completed the first grading period as of today.  Here are some important events for the month of September:

MQ1 Grading Period Ends
In grades 9-12, the grading periods are four and a half weeks long.  That will be a change from what you are used to.  The first grading period (MQ1) ended on August 31st.  Students will bring home their first high school report card on Tuesday, September 12th.

Labor DayThere will be NO SCHOOL on Monday, September 4th for Labor Day.

School Pictures
Lifetouch will be taking our Fall School Pictures on Tuesday, September 5th.  Please do not forget since we are not in school on Monday, September 4th for Labor Day!

Grove Health Screenings
We will be having health screenings for E.W. Grove students on Wednesday, September 6th.

Grove Parent Action Committee (GPAC) meeting
Our next GPAC meeting will be Monday, September 11th at 5:00 P.M. in the E.W. Grove Library.  All parents and guardians are invited to attend, even if you missed the August meeting. Come and see how you can be involved in your child's freshman year of high school!
GPAC officers have established a Henry County High School Class of 2027 Facebook page that they encourage all parents to follow.

World's Finest Chocolate Fundraiser
E.W. Grove School's Grove Parent Action Committee (GPAC) is sponsoring a World's Finest Chocolate sale.  This is the only fundraiser GPAC will do this year.  The money raised will support events for the Class of 2027 this school year, and any leftover funds will follow the Class of 2027 to HCHS.  To have the most successful fundraiser possible, we are challenging EACH Grove student to sell at least one box of chocolate.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 3 student sellers!  Students will receive permission slips to sell chocolate on Tuesday, September 5th!!!  The fundraiser will begin on Monday, September 11th and will end on Friday, September 29th.  Students must have turned in a signed permission slip to receive a box of chocolate on September 11th.

GPAC also needs parent volunteers to help in the mornings with this important fundraiser. Please reach out on the Facebook page if you can help.  You can also email me your name if you are not on social media, and I will pass your contact information along to our Fundraiser Chair.

Parent/Teacher Conferences - NO SCHOOL for students
Fall Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held on Monday, September 25th from 1:00 - 7:00 P.M.  We encourage all of our parents to attend to meet your student's teachers.  There will be NO SCHOOL for students on Monday, September 25th.

PAPER
Don't forget to encourage students to use PAPER, the 24/7 online tutoring support service offered to 9-12 grade students by the Tennessee Department of Education. Watch this Parent Orientation Video to learn more about the service.

Here are a few ways PAPER can help you succeed this school year:

  • Homework help, test prep, and study support

  • Revisions for typed writing assignments – essays, short paragraphs, book reports, science lab reports, college personal statements, and more!

  • An extra hand when you need a refresher or need to catch up on assignments

Mrs. Ashley James, E.W. Grove Assistant Principal, sent an email on August 18th about this opportunity for our students.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your support!
